Photos de Birmanie / Original pictures from Burma / GALLOIS (Eugène)
Eugène Gallois is a famous globe-trotter and reporter who travelled all around the world.
He travelled in Java, in Burma, in India and Indochina during the years 1896-1899. During his trips he took a lot of pictures.
This set of 51 cliches is probably dated 1896-1898, as some pictures were reproduced in his travel account: Au Pays des Pagodes et des Monastères: en Birmanie (Paris, Delagrave, 1899). A very rare collection of original pictures kept in a box. Each photograph measures around 28*20 cm and is fixed on hard board (45*35 cm).
